I have battled pigmentation ever since my honeymoon, when after lots of pre-wedding treatments, my lovely smooth skin completely changed colour!!
Then when I was pregnant, those splotches spread and have never gone away...
It helps to know that much of the time it's caused by hormones - and unfortunately there's not much we can do to control them!
Pregnancy, ageing, stress all play a part...FUN!
So...what can we do about it?
The good news is, there are SO many products and treatments out there for our concern.
Treatments run far and wide: from Fraxel - which is costly but highly effective, to AHA facial peels at a salon like Millk Studios - which is what I did (at Millk) initially to reduce my pigmentation.
I have also found that using products with Retinol in them have helped me - perhaps look into DMK (the skin care brand & treatments I swear by)
Exfoliation is key to help the skin continue rejuvenating: products like Demalogica'sPowerbright system (and related lightening products) will help with uneven skin tone.
Lastly, a few ways you can cover up your pigmentation:
Medium coverage foundation: Clinique Even Better Foundation
Highlighter for your cheekbones: Australis Mineral Highlights - try this in pearl for winter, or gold in summer when you have a tan, and just use on your cheek bones to bring the attention towards your eyes.
If you too suffer from pigmentation, I feel your pain, but once you decide which route you want to take (treatments, skin care systems or simply camoflage with makeup) you can start to narrow down. Good luck!
